Postgraduate Programs

Emergency Medicine offers two different postgraduate programs, a five year FRCPC program and a one year CCFP(EM) program.


A five year integrated program, for those who wish to pursue a career in academic emergency medicine. The curriculum for the residency program consists of clinical rotations and academic sessions and has been carefully laid out, developed and refined since the inception of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Queen's. With an average of 8 residents each year, the Queens CCFP-EM program is the largest in Canada. It is a highly-rated program offering a comprehensive clinical and academic experience to the residents. The program director is Dr. Joey Newbigging.
