Mark completed residency training in emergency medicine at Queen’s University in 2014.  During this time he pursued subspecialty training in emergency medical services (EMS) and disaster medicine at the University of Ottawa, and has devoted significant time to paramedic education and quality assurance initiatives.  He has generated several peer-reviewed projects in the area of EMS and resuscitation medicine that have been presented at national and international conferences, and he lectures on EMS and health care provider interactions with law enforcement for the undergraduate medical class at Queen’s University.   He is a medical director for the advanced cardiac life support course (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) course, and is an instructor for the advanced trauma life support course (ATLS).  As the medical director for Kingston Fire & Rescue he oversees the basic life support program provided by firefighters in the Kingston community.   Mark also has an interest in forensic medicine and community safety and is an investigating coroner with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
