Dr. Mackenzie Senior

Dr. Mackenzie ("Mac") Senior was born in North Bay, Ontario, and spent much of his childhood moving between communities across Ontario, including North Bay, Collingwood, and Oakville, while also spending time overseas. Mac completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Nipissing University before beginning his career as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department. His experience caring for patients in the emergency setting inspired him to pursue medicine, leading him to the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM University).

During medical school, Mac trained primarily in Sudbury and several surrounding northern and rural communities, where he developed a strong interest in emergency medicine and the unique challenges of caring for patients in a wide variety of clinical environments. These experiences laid the foundation for his continued passion for acute care and lifelong learning.

Although he had never visited Kingston before matching to Queens Mac and his family quickly embraced the community. He now proudly calls Kingston home with his wife and their twin sons.

Mac's professional interests include emergency medicine, critical care, medical education, resuscitative medicine, and fostering effective communication and teamwork within interdisciplinary healthcare teams. He is passionate about creating collaborative learning environments that enhance patient care while supporting the development of future healthcare professionals.

Outside of medicine, Mac enjoys spending time with his family, running, woodworking, and following Formula One racing. He values maintaining a healthy balance between his professional and personal life and enjoys sharing many of his hobbies with his family.
