I did my MD in Toronto 2001-2005
Family Medicine plus EM Fellowship at Queen's 2008
Fellowship in Educational Scholarship at Queen's 2018-19
I have been teaching at Queen's at various levels (medical school, Family Medicine and EM residents, Resuscitation Fellows) since 2010. I have won the Queen's Faculty of Health Sciences award, the Aesculapian Society teaching award (seven times) and the Distinguished Preceptor award for the CCFP-EM teaching.
I am also one of the Ontario Health Peers providing on-call support to EM doctors province wide through the Peer-to-Peer service.
My academic interests are using cognitive load theory to enable mastery-level performance in learners, intersections between medicine and other high stakes professions such as military and aviation; and studying performance under pressure
Outside of work, I sail, mountain bike, ski and hike with my wife and kids
