Dr. Isabelle Gray is an emergency physician at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. She completed a Master of Science in Epidemiology, medical school and Royal College emergency medicine training at the University of Alberta. She holds a certificate in health professions education from the University of Maastricht.
Dr. Gray has a track record in medical education and innovation. As a resident, she implemented an innovative redesign of the evidence-based medicine (EBM) curriculum for FRCPC emergency medicine residents. As an Assistant Professor at Queen’s, she is heavily involved in teaching EBM to medical students and residents and has developed novel methods for teaching learners how to integrate evidence and critical appraisal into daily practice. Most recently, she developed a novel health advocacy curriculum alongside community partners and stakeholders. Her research includes systematic and scoping reviews, curricular evaluation, as well as evidence-based clinical practice reviews (you can find her series of reviews at the BMJ.com). She has received multiple awards from the student body for her teaching.
Since joining the Department of Emergency Medicine, she has become an active member of the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) committee and research committee. She also serves as a member of the Hôtel Dieu Hospital working group. Her area of focus is around harm reduction for patients who use substances and improving the emergency care of older adults.
