Dr. Jodie Pritchard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University.

She found her way to emergency medicine after a career as a paramedic, including both clinical and managerial roles within the provincial air ambulance system in Ontario. She completed her MD and FRCPC Emergency Medicine residency at McMaster University, has an MPH from the University of Manchester, completed her Clinician Educator Diploma through McMaster university, and is a Diplomate with the Royal College for her Area of Focused Competence in Medical Education. Dr Pritchard spent 2019-2020 at Queen’s University in the Global Emergency Medicine fellowship program where she was able to combine her interests in medical education, global emergency medicine, and humanitarian response.

Dr. Pritchard’s focus on building health equity, drives her work both locally and internationally. She has a particular focus on emergency care systems strengthening and medical education. Dr. Pritchard has worked as a consultant with the WHO leading prehospital, emergency, and trauma care strengthening programmes in Moldova and Georgia. She is also a transport medicine physician with the provincial air ambulance in Ontario, helping to address geographic inequities in care. She is the Simulation Lead for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Queen’s University and has supported a pilot of in-situ simulation in a rural/remote Emergency Department in Ontario.

Dr Pritchard’s experience in healthcare leadership, education, research, systems assessment and strengthening includes work in Cambodia, DR Congo, Gaza, Georgia, Laos, Libya, Moldova, Uganda and rural/urban Ontario.
